Psalm 36:7-9 With Thee Is the Fountain of Life

Psalm 36:7-9 (KJV)  How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

The precious, splendid, weighty experience of God’s goodness and kindness upon His people is the reason for praise – How excellent is thy lovingkindness. Truly, our God is good. The psalmist draws us to piety – let the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

It is not a case of when all things fail, let us resort to Him. Rather come to Him first and experience His care described well as the “satisfied with the fatness of thy house, drink the river of thy pleasures”.

Indeed, the Lord abundantly makes good the way of His people. He is the fountain or spring of life as Jesus said to the woman at the Jacob’s well in John 4:14 (KJV)  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

The Holy Spirit that indwells the believer imparts wisdom and strength and life to uplift the soul and energize the weary. All praise and thanksgiving to the God of glory. Amen.
