Hebrews 9:26 But Now Once

Hebrews 9:26 (KJV)  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Sin was put away when Christ Himself suffered for man’s sin upon the cross. It was a once for all sacrifice. It is contrasted with the sacrifice made in the Jewish sacrificial system where the priest offers repeated sacrifices.

The establishment of the sacrificial system in the wilderness as instructed by God through Moses was a feeble picture of the fulfillment that will come in Christ.

For by the sacrifice of Christ, judgment upon man’s sin was averted.

Hebrews 9:27 (KJV)  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Christ’s death was God’s appointment that He might in the fullness of time, at the end of the world, in that there is none other acceptable hereafter. This is it! Amen.
