Ephesians 6:10 Be Strong In The LORD
Ephesians 6:10 (KJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
“Be strong”, “to be made strong”, “to be strengthened” is a command for the believer to be continually in such spiritual state. The present imperative speaks of a command to develop such a life-long habit.
There is much at stake after he painted for us since the beginning of this book of Ephesians the high calling of the Christian, the glory and the exalted character of the Christian life that we are called to live.
However, this verb “be strong” is in the passive, in other words, the strength does not come innately from the believer but from an external Source. He cannot be strong by himself. He needs to be strengthened that he may be strong.
That strength, he tells us clearly, comes from the Lord. It is in the Lord, in that union with the Lord that we can strengthened. To be strengthened in the power that the Lord imparts to us, that is, in the power of His might.
In the Lord or in union with the Lord, His might is graciously imparted to us. There is a great sense there of dependence, more precisely of total, complete dependence. Amen.
