Philippians 3:14 Not There Yet

Philippians 3:14 (KJV) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

The Apostle Paul was not dismayed by the past but looks forward to go forth in the strength of the Lord when he said in Philippians 3:13 (KJV) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

He saw his life in the Lord as a race towards the finishing line and there is a prize from the Lord awaiting him at the end of that journey.

Therefore, he says, “I press toward the mark”. In a race, the stakes are high, challenge tremendous, but for the Apostle Paul the key reason for his persevering is that Christ has called him to work. He will not shrink from it but bravely press on. Amen.
