Psalm 73:26 Flesh and Heart Faileth

Psalm 73:26 (KJV)  My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Without God, in the flesh, we are undone, our flesh and heart fail to satisfy our deepest need. Only in God, the heart is undergirded with strength, we can truly be at peace. This is the bestowment of God in the new birth.

The heart is endued with understanding to take hold upon God, our true portion – Psalm 73:25 (KJV)  Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

Acknowledging his mortal frailty, the psalmist attributed the strength in his heart to God’s indwelling presence with Him. He may confidently look forward to the future of life with Him now and forevermore because of the faithfulness of God. What great comfort! Amen.
