Matthew 10:39 Lost and Found

Matthew 10:39 (KJV)  He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Life is found in Christ and life is lost without Christ. When a man finds Christ, he finds eternal life. And as he commits his life to Christ, he seems to suffer loss. Christ assures His disciples that in Christ is infinite gain.

Matthew 10:38 (KJV)  And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Life with Christ is described as a cross. Christ suffered on the cross to redeem us. The cross of Christ was the sufferings He made for our sins. This cross of the believer is the life of following Christ and forsaking the world. There seemed to be a calculated loss but in the final equation of life, it leads to life and life everlasting.

Let us live lives worthy of Christ who gave Himself for us. Amen.
