Isaiah 50:10 Let Him Trust and Stay Upon His God

Isaiah 50:10 (KJV)  Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.

The LORD sets Himself as our example of faith and obedience to the Father in heaven in His days of persecution and dire trials. The “servant” speaks of the Messiah, the Redeemer of Israel, our LORD Himself. There are times when a severe trial comes to the believer’s life. This is an exhortation to keep faith in times of testing. Looking to Jesus as our example, the Author and Finisher of our faith!

When our Lord was in Gethsemane, he tarried in prayer – Luke 22:44 (KJV)  And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

He saw that His disciples were not watching and praying but asleep. Nonetheless, it was a hard lesson that the disciples will learn for themselves that they will not forget on the night their Lord was betrayed!

Luke 22:45-47 (KJV)  And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

Let us learn from the Lord to pray more earnestly in faith and not slumber nor give up or give in. Amen.
