Jeremiah 31:33 My Law In Their Inward Parts

Jeremiah 31:33 (KJV)  But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Their consecration toward Him identifies the blessed covenantal relationship between God and His people. An inward delight signifies it and desires to please Him by obeying His laws and walking in His holy will.

In Israel’s history, there have been many periods whereby His people strayed from Him, departing from His holy commandments, and bringing untold miseries. In the Exodus and Israel’s en route to the Promised Land that extended to 40 years. The transition from Theocracy to Monarchy was when Israel demanded a king to lead them instead of their God. The Divided Kingdom led up to the destruction of the Northern Kingdom in 722 B.C. and the Southern Kingdom in 586 B.C.

Nevertheless, God did not forsake His people despite their unfaithfulness. He remained faithful. Indeed, confidence in God’s faithfulness is clearly demonstrated in His faithfulness to Israel. May it encourage His people to greater love and consecration toward Him. Amen.
