Joshua 24:15 A Sanctified Choice

Joshua 24:15 (KJV)  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

The children of Israel were exhorted by Joshua to make a resolute choice. To serve the LORD their God and to refrain from the idols of the land. It was a sanctified choice. A choice that will set them apart, protected from the incursions of falsehoods and lies, gods that do not save!

When Israel crossed into Cannan, they walked on the dried-up seabed of the Jordan River. The LORD’s by His power parted the Jordan River just as He did part the Red Sea to save them from the raging Egyptian army. Their purpose was to purge the land of its idolatry and establish the worship of the LORD, the living and true God.

For the conquest to be successful, every Israelite family have to put the LORD first. When any would yield to the temptation to embrace the gods of the land, Israel will suffer loss. Christ set apart the families of the church to be a light for Him. May the light shine brightly from each Christian home for His glory. Amen.
