Psalm 73:26 My Flesh and My Heart Faileth

Psalm 73:26 (KJV)  My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

What a reality when it dawned upon our hearts that our ailing bodies will one day fully give way. Without the Lord, the prospect of our deteriorating strength is indeed a frightening awakening chill. But for the soul that is anchored upon the Rock of ages, there is the prospect of our promotion to glory.

Taking hold of the facts of history and the promises of Scripture concerning the resurrected body of Christ and the future glorified bodies of the saints, we may as the psalmist did testify – but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever/ The psalmist understood the reality of eternal life and is comforted.

He saw with the eyes of faith and it became a trusted reality for him and he, therefore, praise the Lord for showing him the reality of the preservation of the soul and the remaking of the body at Christ’s return. Amen.
