Psalm 119:116 Upheld, Living and Hopeful

Psalm 119:116 (KJV)  Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.

The psalmist’s prayer is that he would be kept, strengthened and protected through the wisdom of God’s Word that is imparted to him to guide him through the minefields of life. He understood that it is a matter most critical, that he is shown the way forward and the way to go.

His hope is anchored in God’s Word. The promises that God gave, he clings, knowing the value of it, the wisdom that it imparts. It provides him with the strength to discern good from evil, truth from falsehood, good man and evildoers.

Psalm 119:114 (KJV)  Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

Psalm 119:115 (KJV)  Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

Amidst the tension, he sought the LORD to keep him true and faithful. Amen.
