Gospel Rally 2022 – Life Through His Name

John 20:31 (KJV) But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

This is an excerpt of the message:

INTRODUCTION

What is in a Name? It identifies and specifies a Person. Having identified Him, the Name helps us to come to the correct Person so that we know to Whom we are building a relationship.

There is One Person of the utmost importance and significance in the history of mankind that every man ought to know. In Him holds the key to life and we certainly want to build a happy relationship with such a One to whom life comes from, the fountain of life.

How does a baby in the womb of the mother receive life? There is that moment when life begins and the heartbeat begins. We are speaking concerning that kind of power to give life and that power to take away life.

This Person who has the authority over the issues of life and death is Jesus, the Giver of life.

Life comes from Him and is given through Him. Life is sustained by Him.

Without Him, when our life is about to come to an abrupt end when death comes upon us, it’s too late.

We need to be connected with Him so that we may have life through His Name. His Name is Jesus, our text in John 20:31 tells us, Who is the Christ? He is the Son of God.

  • Conveying the Truth (v31a)
  • Convicting the Heart (v31b)
  • Connecting to Christ to Receive Eternal Life (v31c)
  •  Conveying the Truth (v31a)

But these are written …

It is my pleasure and utmost blessing to convey the truth to you. What is the opposite is falsehood? We don’t want anything false. We want to know the truth.

And so I shall begin with the first fourteen verses of this gospel of John to share with you this Person Jesus, who is the Christ.

Just to help us understand how important Jesus is, He came at the pivotal time of human history in our calendar, B.C., Before Christ, and A.D. Anno Domini, the Year of the Lord.

Jesus was born at that time and the Bible may be divided into two sections, the Old Testament which speaks of the coming of Jesus Christ and the New Testament which conveys that time of His coming and what He did and tells us the future of the world that we are living in.

In the history of mankind, is there anyone in history in which any book records his coming before he is born? None that I know of, except in the Bible tells us of the coming of Jesus who is the Christ. The Bible is focused on One Person, Whom we must know for in Him holds the key to our life and future well-being.

So who is Jesus Christ?

John 1:1-2 (KJV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.

John 1:14 (KJV) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus is there at the beginning of no beginning, before the universe was ever created and come into existence, Jesus was there but not in human flesh like as we are. Jesus was there in heaven with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit till the time He entered human history 2000 years ago.

So why is the need to produce 4 books of the Gospel to help us to know Jesus Christ? He is pivotal to our continued existence and life. Jesus Christ Who exist as the Word before He entered human history and come in the flesh as a man is God.

Our text tells us the Word was God. And verse 14, And the Word was made flesh. You ask me how can I understand that. Here it tells us the divine nature of Jesus Christ.

He is 100% God and 100% Man in One Person. As God, He represented God to reach man and as Man He represent man to reach God. He is the Mediator, the one that Go-in-Between to connect Man with God.

That’s the first thing that we like to convey, Jesus is God. What does it matter to me, you may ask? Let us read on in John 1:3-5.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Jesus is the Creator and Sustainer of life.

What? Did we not come from apes, who many millions of years ago shed our tails and become who we are? No, dear friends, that’s not the truth. The truth is that Jesus Christ made you and He is the One that is sustaining the breath in your nostrils right now.

Should we not get connected with the One that determines our life and our well-being? That is the reason for our effort to invite you here…

Thank God for bringing 4 visitors for the English Gospel Rally and 2 visitors for the Mandarin Gospel Rally. May the Gospel seed sown accomplish God’s purpose for the salvation of souls and edification of the saints. Amen.

Yours lovingly,

Pastor Lek Aik Wee
