1 Corinthians 6:11 Justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus

1 Corinthians 6:11 (KJV)  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

The conversion of a soul is divinely given. Sins are washed away by the blood of Christ when one repents. When the gospel is given, God causes His Spirit to work in the heart of the hearer, to convict it of sin, and to cause the person to turn away from sin and find forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ.

Jesus died on the cross for our justification. The gospel makes plain the truth that God’s wrath is averted from one who believes in the work of Christ upon the cross to bear our sins.

Therefore, all who are saved, sanctified or set apart by God as holy, must not go back to the old ways of sin. There is a heightened understanding to hate sin and the things that defile our lives.

Praise God in Christ for this new life. May it be cherished and well lived. Amen.
