Deuteronomy 6:7 Teach Them Diligently Unto Thy Children

Deuteronomy 6:7 (KJV)  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

The parental mandate to teach their children was recorded by Moses that God’s wisdom may be passed from generation to generation. The mandate requires not just quality time but the quantity of time, by the parents.

This is well explained in that it involves talking to the child. The child is taught the commandments of God. And involves spending time in the everyday life of the child to mold the child in the ways of God.

Deuteronomy 6:5-6 (KJV)  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

The prerequisite is that the parents are to take time cultivating their own souls so that they may first love the Lord singularly and impart this to them.

May the Lord strengthen parents in their sacred task to raise the next generation. Amen.
