1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray Without Ceasing

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)  Pray without ceasing.

Prayer is communion with God. Break not that communion but be constantly and consistently in fellowship with Him is the exhortation. That is the meaning of the word “unceasing”. A blessed word of dependence upon God and distrust for self.

Prayer cannot be by proxy. There is the intercessory prayer where one prays for another. Here, we are commanded to pray. The verb “pray” is in the middle voice, the subject has to perform the action personally.

Prayer is praise and prayer is also petition. Prayer is keeping the means by which the believer finds the strength to walk with God against the tide of self, the world, and the devil. To be victorious, there is a need for vigilance. Hence, pray with out ceasing. Amen.
