Isaiah 40:31 Renewed Strength

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

For the people of God, renewal of strength comes from waiting upon the LORD. This waiting has an implication of tenseness and eagerness. There is a sense of weariness, weakness and even fainting.

Here is promised the “renewal” which verb has the meaning “anew, sprout”. Just as the new shoots from a plant begin anew as a little spout growing that forthwith grows up, there is a newness of life that sprouts forth for God’s people who wait upon Him.

It means resorting to Him, it speaks of abiding as the branch does the vine (John 15). There is that innateness of new life that comes from the Holy Spirit’s work in the believer’s heart. It is God’s work. We are assured of that renewal.

All praise and glory to Him. Amen.
