Psalm 91:14-16 Blessed Communion

Psalm 91:14-16 (KJV)  Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Time with God is never in vain. It is time redeemed and time gained. Affection toward God is never regretful but most rewarding.

For the psalmist, deliverance meant safety from hidden traps, perilous and pursuing pestilence – Psalm 91:3 (KJV) Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

“On high” means “set securely on high”, to be safe, to be strong, protected from evil. He has said as a theme for the psalm in Psalm 91:1-2 (KJV)  He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

For the psalmist, communion with God means answered prayers. Not only will his prayers be answered but will be set in honour before God and men. His burden will not overwhelm him.

Job was one such character God blessed after his prolonged trial – Job 42:16-17 (KJV)  After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations. So Job died, being old and full of days.

Indeed, godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come (1 Timothy 4:8). Amen.
