Revelation 2:16; Repent!

Revelation 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Where we have sinned against God, we must acknowledge our sins and repent. In Psalm 32 which we have studied a few days back, the psalmist acknowledged his sin due to the intense guilt in the heart that caused him to submit to God.

The Lord is described as He which hath the sharp sword with two edges. It is a sword of judgment. Its two-edged character means it moves fast and rapidly and devastating into both directions. No escape from the judgment.

As the Bible says, Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? (1 Cor. 5:6).

Repent, this is a sin!

When falsehood is allowed to come into the fellowship, it festers and it grows. And it affects the body, just like the first effects of cancer. Not discovered and arrested, it destroys the body finally.

To confess our sin means to admit our sin, agree with God that it is wrong and be willing to turn from it. It is easy to think we can make our sin go away by covering it up with the many good things we do. We need to confess sin to God and tell the truth to those we’ve wronged. Only God can take our sin away, and He will – 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” If we accept God’s free gift of salvation, can we be sure that God will forgive our sins when we confessed them to Him. Amen.
