Revelation 2:15; Doctrine of the Nicolaitans

Revelation 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

Pergamos was a church with a hand in the world in that there was a group of ungodly people who crept into the church fellowship and Jesus hated their inconsistent lives – The doctrine of Balaam and the doctrine of the Nicolaitans.

Remember the church in Ephesus overcame this problem by strong leadership. “Nicolaitans” is a compound of two words, “Nike” or “overcomer, or victor” and the word “laos” or “laity”, one who conquers the people, describing leaders who abused their power and authority, lorded over God’s people, describing group of ungodly people who threatened to overturn the leadership.

Solomon pointed out clearly such sins in Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

May God protect His church from such ungodly individuals. Amen.
