2 Corinthians 1:7, Our Hope of You Is Steadfast

2 Corinthians 1:7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

William MacDonald said well, “The apostle now expresses his confidence that just as the Corinthians had known what it was to suffer on behalf of Christ, so they would experience the comforting help of Christ. Sufferings never come alone for the Christian. They are always followed by the consolation of Christ. We, too, can be confident of this, as Paul was.”

This is the Christian man’s consolation as he seeks to do the will of God in his life. The world is at enmity. As he bears the cross and despise the shame, there is a joy that surroundings him despite sufferings. It is borne out of faith that the gospel work has an eternal value. He can be hopeful for every ounce of suffering and heartache will receive a consolation and reward from  Christ at the last day. Its not wasted effort but effecutal in Christ.

Thank God for granting faith to persevere in the gospel work of resucing the perishing. Amen.
