1 Corinthians 10:1-5, That Rock was Christ

1 Corinthians 10:1-5 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

The children of Israel experienced the sufficiency of God in their wilderness experience. God supernaturally protected them from their Egyptian oppressors. The sustenance the children of Israel experienced was traced to Jesus Christ.

He was the Rock that provided the stability in their journey through the wilderness. Indeed, the picture of Israel in the wilderness is a good portrayal of God’s care for His people through life’s uncertainties and difficult circumstances.

When we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we have the assurance of His complete care for our lives. We can trust Him through every wilderness experience in life. Let us be willing to say like Peter, “Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68). Amen.
