1 Corinthians 3:2, Fed With Milk

1 Corinthians 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

The newborn baby like the newborn believer is fed with milk so that it may grow. However, the child that has come of age like the older believer that has come of age must be able to eat meat for his spiritual nourishment. However, the situation is such that for some believers, observed the Apostle Paul, they are unable to take meat even though they have been believers for a time. What is the reason? Spiritually, these believers are not growing. A sad observation.

Is it the influence of the world stifling the grow of these believers? A grave possibility. When the believer would not take time and commit time for spiritual nourishment through consistent the study of God’s Word through worship and prayer, bible study, and personal devotion, there will be the tell-tale signs of spiritual malnutrition. There seemed little difference between the believer’s priority and the people of the world, there is great danger ahead.

The Apostle Paul is writing to lovingly encourage such ones to take time for biblical instruction. Take time to meditate on God’s Word. Take time to pray for God’s grace to renew the mind and put off the world and put on Christ and the word. May the Lord bless His Word to the strengthening of His people. Amen.
