1 Corinthians 2:10, Revealed by His Spirit

1 Corinthians 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

The Holy Spirit indwelling the born-again believer illuminates the mind so that he is able to understand God’s Word.

The Holy Spirit’s guidance was Jesus’ promise to His disciples before He went to the cross prior to His death, resurrection and ascension to heaven. Though He will not be bodily with them, His Spirit will help them – John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The Holy Spirit enabled the disciples to write the New Testament after Jesus’ ascension in the four gospels, the book of Acts that records the history of the infant church in its first thirty years, the Epistles which are letters to the New Testament churches and finally the Book of Revelation. Peter articulated this truth in 2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The Old Testament Scriptures point the reader by the illumination to Jesus Christ as Jesus Himself explained in Luke 24:44-49 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are witnesses of these things. 49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Thank God for enabling His people to understand the living Word, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the Bible and to live by the principles that Jesus has taught for our present and eternal blessing. Amen.
