1 Corinthians 2:9, Eye Hath Not Seen

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

The Apostle Paul cites from this Old Testament text from book of Isaiah though not in its exact form:

Isaiah 64:4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

He tells us that the eye, the ear and the heart or mind of man cannot possibly know the way for sinful man to be reconciled to his God. God has to reveal it. Man’s wisdom, in the strength of all his senses, cannot perceive the way to God, the knowledge of salvation.

For me, it was through the revelation of God’s Word in John 1:

John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The way is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Truly, from that moment onwards, life has not been the same. The blessing of God was outpoured as Jesus Christ was received into my heart as Lord and Saviour through repentance and turning to Jesus Christ. I saw the light of salvation through the light of God’s Word. Wonderful revelation! Praise God from the bottom of my heart. May this be your experience too as we rejoice in what Jesus Christ has done for us. May it cause us to love Him more and more. Amen.
