Romans 15:30-32, Strive Together With Me In Your Prayers

Romans 15:30-32 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; 31 That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints; 32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

The Apostle Paul sought the intercessory prayers of the saints in Rome that he may make spiritual progress in the gospel work in Judaea against persecutors and the saints in Jerusalem may receive him well to accept the gift he brings to them. To pray that he may be able to come to Rome and have blessed time of fellowship together and that he may be given renewed strength and joy in service amidst the rigours of the work.

He cited two reasons for his request (1) For the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake (2) For the love of the Spirit. His will has been completely surrendered to the Lord’s purpose and plan through the leading of the Holy Spirit. He said in Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Truly, the Apostle Paul is wholly given over to serve his Lord.

Thank God for the privilege of intercessory prayer. May the Lord bless you to co-labour in prayer for the advancement of God’s kingdom through His servants in the local church. Amen.
