Romans 9:7, God Is In Charge

Romans 9:7 (KJV) 7  Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

Abraham’s true son shares Abraham’s faith.  He trusts Abraham’s God. As we survey Abraham’s life, we observe the birth of Isaac according to God’s promise came 25 years after God gave the promise when he was 100 years old. Although Abraham had other children until then and after that, Isaac would inherit all the spiritual promises that God gave Abraham. Isaac would be the son by whom Messiah would come. He was the fulfilment of God’s promise to Abraham. A child that came at Sarah’s old age, way past the age of child-bearing.

God is in charge; He is on the throne working out His salvation plan to save fallen men. He will work out His plan marvellously through human instruments and He does so for His glory according to His purpose. We rest in His mysterious providence without questioning His wisdom. Since the fall of Adam, God promised a Saviour will come from the woman’s seed in the fullness of time, 15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15 (KJV) This fulfilment is recorded in Galatians 4:4-5 (KJV) 4  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5  To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

As we survey human history, we can see God working to fulfil His purpose since the beginning after Adam fell into sin. There is the line of men whom God passes the spiritual heritage from one generation to another to Abraham and after Abraham that will bring forth the Saviour!

The Apostle Paul tells us that God works His plan through one Man, Christ Jesus, that came out of one nation – Israel and not any man. And His plan is working out to its fruition. All who calls upon the name of Jesus shall be saved! Amen.
