Revelation 1:1-2 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

The word “servants” means “bond-slaves”. It describes those performing the service of a slave by unquestioning obedience. It describes Christ’s servants. All who will take heed to His Second Coming and live their lives in the light of it.

We are reminded of the man Noah living in the midst of the godless world before the judgment of the global flood who obeyed fully God’s instruction to build an ark – Genesis 6:8, 13-14, 22 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD… 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch… 22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

This book is the unveiling of future events leading to the Second Coming of Christ ushering in the transition from time to eternity, here, spoken of, as the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Jesus, is He Whom the Godhead has appointed to reveal the truth concerning the future of mankind. The message is given from God through Jesus Christ, conveyed by His angel unto John, the Apostle of Christ, to His servants.

Who are His servants? The receipients of the letter who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein (v3). The Lord pronounced them “blessed”. These events must shortly come to pass.

The study of the Book of Revelation holds the key to unlocking the door of understanding to current world events. As the future is unveiled before us in study of the Book of Revelation, it provides the clues to understanding current events leading to the Second Coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the climatic reunion between the church, the bride of Christ, and her bridegroom, Jesus Christ!
