Revelation 1:1-2; Unto His Servants

Revelation 1:1-2 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

The word “servants” means “bond-slaves”. It describes those performing the service of a slave by unquestioning obedience. It describes Christ’s servants. All who will take heed to His Second Coming and live their lives in the light of it.

We are reminded of the man Noah living in the midst of the godless world before the judgment of the global flood who obeyed fully God’s instruction to build an ark – Genesis 6:8, 13-14, 22 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD… 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch… 22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Noah was commended for his faith in Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

What is the lesson? Make sure that we are in Christ and go proclaim this message of salvation in Jesus Christ so that men and women will be protected in the ark of Christ before the coming judgment. Amen.
