John 17:15 Keep Them From Evil

John 17:15 (KJV)
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Our Lord Jesus’s prayer for His people as they remain in this world as His witnesses, the Father in heaven would protect them from the attack of the evil one.

In fact, the Apostle John testified and affirmed this to be the work of the Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Christ in 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Our Lord Jesus is now at the right of the Father as His church’s Advocate to protect and succor the church as the gospel work is advanced from strength to strength till He returns to bring His church to glory. Amen.
