1 Thessalonians 5:6-8 Let Us Watch And Be Sober

1 Thessalonians 5:6-8 (KJV) Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

The exhortation from the Apostle Paul to the church in Thessalonica is to be watchful and sober. To stay watchful and sober.

This is a spiritual posture of alertness to danger is so as not to be taken by the enemy off guard. The sentry that sleeps in his post is culpable.

Drunkenness renders a person insensitive to danger though awake, the senses are not sensitive to surrounding danger.

Therefore, the church is exhorted to be sober, putting on the armour of God in faith, and love and hope. By this, the Lord grant His people the victory. Amen.
