Matthew 11:30 For My Yoke Is Easy And My Burden Is Light

Matthew 11:30 (KJV)  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The Lord assures His disciples that follow Him will not be hard but easy. The Israelites were under hard bondage with the Egyptians. The Lord delivered them and led them out in the wilderness, though in barren land, they were “fed and watered”. They had no lack.

Following the Lord is according to His stipulations, the believer yields to His laws, that protects and prospers him rather than stifle and deprives him. No doubt, obedience is required but for the believer’s well-being.

Following the Lord is spoken of as a burden, like a large baggage that seemed to look heavy but is really light because there was not placed in it anything that will weigh him down.

The weight of our sins, He has borne on the cross. The burdens of our hearts cast upon Him relieves our anxieties in exchange for His peace. Hence, following the Lord is easy and light. Amen.
