Psalm 61:4 I Will Abide In Thy Tabernacle Forever

Psalm 61:4 (KJV) I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

The psalmist committed himself to the LORD’S care. This he do so by keeping himself close to Him. He says “I will abide in thy tabernacle forever”. The tabernacle is the dwelling place of God. For the believer, God dwells with us by the indwelling Spirit within us. Our body is therefore the tabernacle of God. In fact, it is the LORD who abides with His people.

In the tabernacle is the presence of God. In the tabernacle, the lamp is continually kept burning. In the tabernacle, sins are forgiven by the offering of the sacrifice. It all points Christ, who is with us. And we in Him, committing ourselves to follow Him, doing His will.

The psalmist extols God’s protection by the illustration of the mother bird sheltering her little ones. We are under the care of God and He does not fail in protecting us. Therefore, he rest himself in the LORD. Amen.
