Psalm 119:77 That I May Live

Psalm 119:77 (KJV) Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.

The psalmist pleaded for wisdom from God to be imbibed in the recesses of his heart and the undeserved favour of God to rest with him so that he will not face the reckless shipwrecks of life. “That I may live” as his plea.

He has taken time to read and meditate upon the law of God and the Bible has been his delight. In other words, he understood the preciousness and life-giving and life imparting nature of God’s Word and delights in it. However, unless the LORD would bless him with understanding, he is lost and undone.

Therefore, he sought to gentle kindness of the LORD to direct him in the homeward, heavenly way. Amen.
