2 Corinthians 4:16-17 For Which Cause We Faint Not

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 (KJV) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Why did the Apostle Paul say, “For which cause we faint not”? Though the outward man ravished by the passing of time and the afflictions of life strikes hard, he was not in despair, neither discouraged?

This is why! The abundant grace of God in the believer’s life as he perseveres in faith to follow and follow not the tide of this world – 2 Corinthians 4:13-15 (KJV) We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

He remarks that the afflictions that he suffered are but light compared with the fact that he will escape eternal punishment in hell because Jesus had conquered death and hell but His resurrection from the dead. As such, he experienced the renewal of the inner man, his soul was flourishing, nourished by the blessed grace of bestowed moment by moment, day to day. Amen.
