John 16:24 Ask and Ye Shall Receive

John 16:24 (KJV)  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

The injunction to prayer is God’s blessing unleashed in the believer’s life. As we come boldly to the throne of grace, we find in Him our fountain of life. He is indeed our Father in Heaven who hears our cries through the merits of Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

The silent communication channel with God is a misnomer – Hitherto have ye asked nothing. Surely, God’s people have their needs. They are to come to Him boldly in prayer and supplication.

The reason for urging His people to pray is that their joy may be full. We may enjoy the freshness and fullness of answered prayer, fullness of joy. Amen.
