Psalm 119:25-26 Quicken Thou Me

Psalm 119:25-26 (KJV)  DALETH. My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word. I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.

The psalmist cries out to God to lift him out of the dreary of this earthly existence with no heavenly perspective. He pleaded for God to guide him in His Word to overcome a life lived for this life.

He longed to be lifted to a higher plain, of loftier ambitions, longings that are eternal that truly bear good fruit. He felt the pull downwards, he felt his soul cleaving into the dust, this earthly existence that returns to the dust. He is truly humbled to see the futility and pleads to be lifted up.

The statutes of God provided the wherewithal to deal with sin, live a holy life and receive a heavenly reward so that life is meaningful and worthwhile. May His Word strengthen and quicken and uplift the languishing soul. Amen.
