John 9:5 While It Is Day (2)

John 9:5 (KJV)  As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He is the One that gives life to every creature – He upholds all things by the word of His power (Hebrew 1:3).

The Apostle John articulated well this truth in John 1:3-5 (KJV)  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Christ’s mission is to bring light to a sin-darkened world, a world reeling in misery and sorrow. He showed the way to find true joy and peace, reconciliation with God through faith in Him – His life and death, poured out on their behalf.

Matthew 9:35-38 (KJV)  And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

May the Lord send forth labourers to His ripe harvest field while it is day. Amen.
