1 Corinthians 1:23-24 Unto Them Which Are Called

1 Corinthians 1:23-24 (KJV)  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

God’s call for the salvation of sinful men, regardless of nationality, is to grant them understanding to embrace the work of Christ in His life and in His death by faith. The greatest miracle of the new birth attests to the power of God to save a soul from eternal judgment.

Just as the leprous general of Syria by the name of Naaman initially despise the instruction of God’s prophet in Israel to go wash his body seven times in the Jordan River. Humbling himself, he washed in the Jordan River and was fully cured of the deadly disease. What a great demonstration of God’s power.

God’s wisdom confounds man’s wisdom. The rivers in Syria were superior to the Jordan River. God did so that man may realize that He is indeed the living and true God and accept His way through Christ for their salvation. Amen.
