Psalm 33:20-22 Our Soul Waiteth for the LORD

Psalm 33:20-22 (KJV)  Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

The psalmist trusted in the LORD. He extols the LORD for being his help and his shield. Now he is faced with, as it were, an impasse. He is waiting for the LORD to guide him. He has experienced the LORD’s sufficiency in his life since he entrusted himself to the LORD’s care.

Psalm 33:11 (KJV)  The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

Psalm 33:12 (KJV)  Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

The battle is not to the swift nor the mighty, he realized.

Psalm 33:16-18 (KJV)  There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

He knew that only in the LORD is the secret to life before him. Therefore, he committed his care to the LORD and wait upon Him to reveal the blessed way. Amen.
