1 Peter 2:10 Now a People of God

1 Peter 2:10 (KJV)  Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

God’s pity or compassion arises to rescue the sinner from his miserable spiritual depravity and deadness, reaching out to him to bring salvation. What joyous work. The angels in heaven rejoice to see the salvation of a soul.

Luke 15:7 (KJV)  I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Luke 15:10 (KJV)  Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

There is a great transition and chasm, a great gulf between heaven and hell. The deliverance is indeed a very great relief. The mercy of God is indeed great to save a sinner. Thank God for His precious Word that shows us clearly that between heaven and hell, death comes to that separation.

May the Lord be merciful to save as we commit our souls to His care and those who are still outside His kingdom be enlightened to enter His kingdom. Amen.
