Colossians 2:13-14 Forgiven

Colossians 2:13-14 (KJV)  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Christ was crucified so that the sins of sinners who turned to Him might be forgiven. All who once were dead in their sins and trespasses, coming to Christ, quickened or made alive by the Holy Spirit, to understand their spiritual bankruptcy and depravity, to see the darkness of their lives and hearts, find the light of the truth shining brightly in their hearts dispelling the darkness.

Sin is a disease. A disease that eventually leads to death. But there is healing for the disease of sin through Christ’s atoning sacrifice. Christ was nailed to the Roman cross for our sake. For the Jews, the handwriting of the ordinances refers to the ceremonial laws that are done away with, when Christ was nailed to the cross.

Following Christ in a new and living way, the forgiven believer understands and cherishes the freedom in Christ. Amen.
