Hebrews 6:11-12 Full Assurance of Hope Unto the End

Hebrews 6:11-12 (KJV)  And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

The twin virtue of faith and patience are the spiritual fruit of the saints who through trials are built up in the faith. The promises of God are eternal. They are duly appropriated as the end of our faith. The sustenance as it were of this twin virtue is the Christian hope, the assurance of God’s promises to usward.

As such, the believer is exhorted to persevere to every good work for His glory – Hebrews 6:10 (KJV)  For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

To have faith is to trust God while we cannot see the tangibles when we walk in obedience to Him. And the patience is that restful state to dwell in the security and assurance of God’s presence whilst waiting upon Him.

Rightly the psalmist assures the saints – Psalm 27:13-14 (KJV)  I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Amen.
