1 Peter 5:10 After Ye Have Suffered A While

1 Peter 5:10 (KJV)  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you

God is all grace, who by His grace called us unto salvation in Christ to partake of His eternal glory necessitates a time of earthly trial. This trial will involve the believer having to suffer. Yet, this suffering is but for a while, it is temporal. It is for a season and has the glorious purpose of building the believer in the faith!

The word “perfect” means “complete”. It speaks of spiritual maturity. It speaks of a tested faith in the believer’s life where God’s grace is seen to sustain him in every situation and through every trial. This is the all-sufficient grace or unmerited favour of God.

The believer’s trial will establish his faith, strengthen his faith and settle him in the faith. There is eternal glory awaiting every suffering saint and tried servant of God. Amen.
