Jude 20-21 Building Up, Praying, Keep, Looking

Jude 20-21 (KJV)  But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

The believers are encouraged to take seriously the admonition in building up on our most holy faith – the form of doctrine that the Word of God brings forth to establish our faith and to guide our daily lives. It takes time to study, and progress can only be made through diligent study that is Holy Spirit-led. In other words, the study is undergirded by earnest prayer, seeking the Lord’s illumination to understand spiritual things.

And that focus is sustained by that undivided heart to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. No other affection must supplant our single-minded devotion toward our God.

John 14:21 (KJV)  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

2 Thessalonians 3:5 (KJV)  And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

Undeserved, nevertheless, we have no other to turn to but to look to our Lord for mercy.

Psalm 13:5 (KJV)  But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

Amen.
