1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 Rejoicing and Praying

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 (KJV)  Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing.

There is much to rejoice about in the believer’s life. We are exhorted to rejoice evermore. To rejoice at all times, to rejoice always. This gladness of the heart is commanded by the Lord. We are to rejoice continually. Knowing that the Lord does all things well on our behalf because we belong to Him brings much comfort and strength and restfulness of the heart.

Where there is any trouble that comes to us, we are to bring them before the Lord immediately – Psalm 55:22 (KJV)  Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

This spiritual watchfulness is God’s appointed means of communion for which we find help in times of need. The call is to keep on depending on Him. Let not a moment where that dependence is broken. Let not a moment when the flesh takes charge and wracks havoc in our lives.

And indeed the peace of God blesses His people who rejoice in Him and in continual communion with Him. Amen.
