1 John 4:14 Seen and Testify

1 John 4:14 (KJV)  And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

In the coming of the Saviour, Scripture bears a three-fold witness. It bears witness to the truth recorded in 1 Corinthians 13:1 “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” The Saviour’s birth was witnessed most intimately by Mary, mother of the holy child together with Joseph, whom Mary was betrothed.

It was ascertained by a multitude of angels from heaven who by a heavenly choir, proclaimed the Saviour’s birth, a heavenly witness. And affirmed by lowly shepherds, whom the angels bore witness to, who immediately travelled to Bethlehem, according to the direction, and identification instruction by the angel, to look for “a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger”, a humble witness.

In a most unusual scene, a manger is an animal sty, a most unlikely place for a royal birth and yet a most unique sign that ascertains indeed, this is the Saviour.

The angel declared to the shepherds in the field, 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:11).

He is the Christ, the anointed Saviour, as the Apostle John bear witness – 1 John 4:14 (KJV) And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Amen.
