Colossians 3:1 Seek Those Things Which Are Above

Colossians 3:1 (KJV)  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

The Apostle Paul makes an appeal after highlighting the deceitfulness of this world’s philosophies, priorities and purposes in the last chapter. Very much earth-bound or earth-biding objectives.

Here he appeals for spiritual discernment to seek the truly valuable, eternal rewards.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 (KJV)  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

True rewards are spiritual rewards given by Christ at His coming again – 2 Corinthians 5:10-11 (KJV)  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Let us, therefore, seek heavenly things that we may be prepared to meet and dwell with Him in heaven. Amen.
