Romans 5:11 We Also Joy in God

Romans 5:11 (KJV)  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Rejoice in God, to joy in God. It speaks of an attitude of confidence in God, of achievements through divine help. It comes because of one’s standing before God as a result of what Jesus Christ has done for him by His life, death, resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father in heaven.

The word “atonement” literally means exchange, profit from exchange; figuratively in the NT, as the reestablishing of personal relations reconciliation, change from enmity to friendship. Here is taught the reconciling of the sinner with our holy God is only by the merits of Christ.

Romans 5:10 (KJV)  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Thank God that through Christ we have access to the throne of grace to find help for our needs. Amen.
