Proverbs 21:21 Follow After Righteousness

Proverbs 21:21 (KJV)  He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

To follow after righteousness is to walk in the ways of God according to His Holy Word. The way to be right with God, the way that is right with God. In the Chinese character, pronounced “Yi”.

justice; loyalty; righteousness; meaning

The upper radical is the lamb and the lower character is “me”, the individual. This is in reference to Christ, being the Lamb of God, that will take away the sins of the world.

John 1:4 (KJV) In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

The word “righteousness” “צְדָקָה” “ṣeḏāqāh” means blameless conduct and integrity. The noun describes justice, right actions, and right attitudes, as expected from both God and people when they judge.

Romans 8:3-4 (KJV)  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Mercy “חֶסֶד” “ḥeseḏ” means kindness, lovingkindness, goodness, faithfulness, love, acts of kindness. This aspect of God is one of several important features of His character: truth; faithfulness; mercy; steadfastness; justice; righteousness; goodness.

A child of God follows after the character of His Father, as exemplified by His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who receives eternal life and finds God’s favour. This is His goodwill for His glory. Amen.
