Proverbs 21:20 Treasured Up

Proverbs 21:20 (KJV)  There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

There is prudence in the home of the wise, no unnecessary wastage and wanton expending. But careful utilization and not careless squandering.

But a foolish man spends it all away – Luke 15:13-14 (KJV)  And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

Then comes utter poverty – Luke 15:15-16 (KJV)  And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

The treasure of the wise is founded and grounded upon God’s truths, imbibed and abided. And oil ensures there is light and ensures that the kitchen stove is dispensing goodness. Amen.
